SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter (Sree Rama GvtPlytechnic College, ThriprayarLC id : 3239)
The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. These are available at: http://nptel.ac.in. From March 2014 NPTEL has been offering online certification for its courses, the highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate form the IITs!

To take this initiative forward and to encourage more students across colleges to participate in this initiative, SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapters are set up in colleges (with the approval of the management) which will be under the headship of a faculty member of the college, who would be our Single Point of Contact (SPOC). He can identify suitable mentors for various courses, who can ensure that students are active in a course, are submitting their assignments on time and also clarify the doubts they may have.

Spoken Tutorial is a multi-award winning educational content portal.The Spoken Tutorial Project is about teaching and learning a particular FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) like Linux, Scilab, LaTeX, PHP & MySQL, Java, C/C++, LibreOffice etc. via an easy Video tool - Spoken Tutorials Google award winning MOOC. The salient features of training are many. See Below:
1. Students, Staff & Teachers from Schools, Colleges, Universities, Polytechnics, ITIs, Skill centers, NGOs – all can avail the training at very low cost.
2. The method is Active learning on Computer systems and very suited for Remote/Distance Education.
3. Teachers & students can master the software courses on their own, in their own campus and at their own time.
4. Once one gets started any student or faculty can master the Software
5. Course and also get Certificates.
End-of-Course online tests and certificates are available for those who wish to test their expertise in a particular software. On completing Training,receives Certificates from Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay. These certificates give an edge to students during placement by increasing their employability potential.
